Business Architect


Business Architect Contract - 3-6 months London - 2-3 days a week onsite. January start. Responsible for: Leading the design and implementation of the new service operating model; oversight of business architecture and service design activities; providing expert guidance to senior execs on best practice; matrix leadership of business designers, analysts, and subject matter experts. Job Purpose: To lead the design, definition and support the wider delivery teams with implementation of the new end-to-end service model as part of the organisation’s transformation programme. This role works with leadership and the wider organisation to translate the approved Future Operating Model (FOM) into practical, workable designs—ensuring how the strategic shifts of the FOM are put into operation, new ways of working are clearly articulated, the scale of change is understood, and that the right capabilities (people, processes, systems, data, governance) are in identified to enable successful transition and benefits realisation. Core Accountabilities: 1. Lead business architecture and service design activities for the Transformation Programme covering service specific and cross service improvements required 2. Ensure the future operating model is translated into detailed service designs and implementation plans Specific Accountabilities: 1. Set and ensure the right design principles are applied and adhered to for all service design proposals 2. Lead and chair a cross-business design authority governance forum and making recommendations to the future Board 3. Lead as-is and to-be process mapping, service design and production of service blueprints 4. Define capability requirements (e.g. skills, systems, data, governance) to enable new operating model 5. Facilitate workshops with senior stakeholders to agree future state and transition states 6. Ensure clear articulation of how new services will work in practice, and how that differs from today 7. Lead production of user journeys, blueprint, and value propositions of proposed service improvements 8. Assure the quality of design-related deliverables at an individual and at an organisation ‘add sum’ level to ensure compliance with and implementation of the approve Future Operating Model. 9. Ensure design decisions are within set constraints 10. Work in partnership with the lead Business Change teams to ensure design impacts and operational impacts have been assessed, understood and accepted
